Relocation & Continuity of Care

Moving abroad?
Let’s make sure your care moves with you.

Relocating brings new opportunities, new experiences and sometimes new challenges. Mental healthcare is rarely the first thing on the list when you are planning a move, and it is one of the easiest things to lose in the middle of one.

Care beyond the appointment

At Prijorità Healthcare, we believe mental healthcare should extend beyond individual appointments.

It is about building relationships, understanding personal circumstances and providing continuity through life’s changes. That does not stop when someone leaves Malta.

If you are preparing to leave

Before you go, we can help you leave well.

A written summary of your care

Your treatment history, your progress and what has worked, prepared so that whoever you see next does not start from a blank page.

Coordination with your new clinician

With your consent, we can speak directly to the psychiatrist, doctor or therapist taking over, so the handover is a conversation rather than a pile of paperwork.

Time to plan the move

An appointment to talk through what changes, what stays the same, and what is worth arranging before you travel.

Continued consultations, where they are possible

Depending on your clinical needs and on the rules where you will be living, we may be able to keep seeing you remotely. We will tell you at the outset whether that applies to you.

If you are moving to Malta

The same applies in reverse. If you have been receiving mental health care elsewhere and are settling here, we can take over your care, liaise with your previous clinician with your consent, and make sure nothing is lost in the move.

Our new patient intake programme is usually the starting point, and reception can advise whether it is the right one for you.

Being straight about the limits

In most countries a clinician needs to be registered where the patient is, not only where they trained, and prescribing across borders is more restricted again. So continued treatment from Malta is possible in some countries and not in others. We would rather tell you that at the start than promise continuity we cannot deliver.

Where we cannot keep treating you, we can still make sure the person who does is properly briefed.

Because good mental healthcare is not just about the appointment. It is about the person, their journey and the support they need along the way.

Care Beyond Treatment. Beyond Borders.

At Prijorità, care comes first. Transparency is simply part of how we care.
